Scion tC

Scion introduced the tC Base in late 2007 to regain its grip on the Coupe market. There are 2 trim levels for the tC in 2008: . With two doors and spacious seating for five, the front-wheel drive tC makes a statement. There is plenty of competition in the Coupe market, including strong offerings from Kia.

2008 Scion tC Base Specs

The tC Base is equipped with a Toyota 2.4 liter four-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The engine is mated to a Toyota 5-speed Transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Scion.

The 2008 tC’s standard fuel system runs on gas. The fuel is regulated electronically, with a fuel-injected MFI style of design. The fuel capacity of the car is 14.50 gallons.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The tC comes equipped with power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $17,000 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $16,150. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Coupe.

The standard warranty period for the tC is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the coupe market.

Fuel Efficiency

The tC Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of 20 - 21 in-city driving and 27 - 29 when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was within normal parameters.

There are several reasons why the Scion tC Base sold well in 2008. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Scion, specifically a tC.
