Scion tC

There have been several award-winning cars from Scion over the years, including the Scion tC of 2005. There are one trim levels to the tC, including Base. The Base version is one of the more popular options, outselling other configurations. Like in 2004 the popular 2.4 liter has made this a popular choice for coupe buyers nationwide.

Standard equipment in the tC for 2004 and 2005 includes the 2.4 liter engine by Toyota, weighing in at 4 cylinders and sixteen valves. A 5-speed Standard Transaxle puts the power of the engine to the pavement. The has proven to be a popular configuration for the tC.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The tC comes equipped with power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The dimensions of the tC Base are 69.10 inches wide by 174.00 inches long. It sits 55.70 inches off the ground. It seats a standard five passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 106.30 allows for extra leg room for the rear passengers.

The listed retail price in 2005 (MSRP) was $16,000, with a dealer invoice cost of $15,200. This price is in line with the industry average price for a two-door Coupe.

Fuel Efficiency

The 2005 tC’s standard fuel system runs on gas. The fuel is regulated electronically, with a fuel-injected MFI style of design. The fuel capacity of the car is 14.50 gallons.

The tC Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of 22 - 23 in-city driving and 29 - 30 when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was within normal parameters.
