Scion tC

One of the staples of the Coupe segment is the Scion tC. In the previous model year debuted a brand new version of the tC with two versions: Base and Spec. Sales for the tC, especially the tC Spec, were brisk during 2007 and 2008. The improved vehicle quality and the classic styling were responsible for the boost in sales.

Performance

The restyled tC Spec is equipped with a Toyota 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that utilizes a total of 16 valves. The engine is paired with a Toyota 4-speed transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Scion.

Fuel is handled for the tC is a SFI design, running on gasoline fuel. The gasoline is managed by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 14.50 gallons.

The tC uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

tC Spec Statistics

The dimensions of the tC Spec are 69.10 inches wide by 174.00 inches long. It sits a comfortable 55.70 inches off the ground. It seats a standard five passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 106.30 allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $16,400 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $15,580. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Coupe.

The standard warranty period for the tC is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the coupe market.

Fuel Efficiency

The 2007 tC gets 30 - 31 miles/gallon on the highway and only 23 in the city. This is exceptional for a coupe car.

Conclusion

There are several reasons why the Scion tC Spec sold well in 2007. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Scion, specifically a tC.
