Author: Several things can be said about the Toyota Celica series: including the polarizing reactions most buyers have towards their car. The four-cylinder engine is at the heart of the strong emotions, it is powerful for its class and delivers a large amount of torque.
Under the Hood
The restyled Celica ST is equipped with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The engine is mated to a Toyota four-speed transaxle. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 1990 version.
The Celica uses power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.
Statistics
The Celica is 173.60 inches long, 67.10 inches wide, and 50.40 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 99.40 inches. It is able to seat 4 comfortably.
The listed retail price in 1991 (MSRP) was $15,388, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-low price. This price is on target the industry average price for a two-door Coupe.
Fuel Efficiency
The fuel system for the 1991 Celica is a traditional MPI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 15.90 gallons.
The Celica ST received a miles-per-gallon rating of twenty three in-city driving and thirty when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was within normal parameters.
What We Think of the Toyota Celica
The 1991 model year was very successful for the Toyota Celica. The introduction of several trim levels (along with the ST version) meant that buyers could find the version that best suited their needs.
