When you think of the “Pontiac Firebird” what will usually come to mind for Pontiac enthusiasts is quality, stability and lots of history. The Firebird has been one of the premier vehicles of the Pontiac line for over ten years. It is an important car and the 1998 model is no exception. The Firebird Trans Am is equipped with a General Motors 5.7 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The Chevrolet engine is mated to a General Motors 4-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Pontiac.
