Pontiac Solstice

A high point in the convertible market is the Pontiac Solstice. In 2006 Pontiac rolled out an upgraded version of the Solstice with one versions: Base. Sales for the Solstice, especially the Solstice Base, were brisk during 2006 and 2007. The improved reliability and the updated styling were responsible for the increased interest.

2006 Pontiac Solstice Base Specs

The restyled Solstice Base is equipped with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The Ecotec engine is mated to a General Motors five-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2005 version.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Solstice uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.

For the 2006 Solstice, the fuel configuration is a electronic SFI, using gasoline for fuel. A fuel-injected MFI configuration. The gas tank holds 13.00 gallons.

The Solstice Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of twenty in-city driving and twenty eight when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was within normal parameters.

What We Think of the Pontiac Solstice

The 2006 model year was very successful for the Pontiac Solstice. The introduction of several trim levels (along with the Base version) meant that buyers could find the version that best suited their needs.
