There have been several award-winning cars from Volkswagen over the years, including the Volkswagen R32 of 2008. There are one trim levels to the R32, including Base. The Base version is one of the more popular options, outselling other configurations. Like in 2007 the popular 3.2 liter has made this a popular choice for hatchback buyers across the country.
Volkswagen R32 Engine Specs
Standard equipment in the R32 for 2007 and 2008 includes the 3.2 liter engine by Volkswagen, weighing in at 6 cylinders and twenty four valves. A 6-speed Standard Transaxle puts the power of the engine to the pavement. This is a long-standing favorite for buyers in the Hatchback arena.
The R32 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.
The fuel system for the 2008 R32 is a Bosch Motronic SFI design, using gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is controlled by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The fuel capacity of the fuel tank is 14.50 gallons.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $32,990 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $31,283. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Hatchback.
MPG Ratings
The R32 Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of eighteen in-city driving and twenty three when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-green car, this was exceptional.
In 2007 and 2008 the R32 Base was availble in the exterior colors of Candy White, Deep Blue Metallic, Tornado Red, and United Gray.
We Think…
The 2007 model began the promise of the Volkswagen R32. The 2008 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Volkswagen hopes that the R32 Base will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
