The restyled Firebird Base is equipped with a General Motors 3.4-liter 6-cylinder engine that utilizes a total of 12 valves. The Chevrolet engine is paired with a General Motors 4-speed transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Pontiac.
Pontiac Firebird Engine Specs: The Firebird Trans Am comes outfitted with a Chevrolet 5.7 liter, 8-cylinder motor that uses 16 valves. The engine, manufactured by General Motors, is mated to a four-speed transmission by General Motors. This arrangement has demonstrated to be an effective style for Pontiac.
